From 2018 to 2021 I had an ongoing inquiry and quest to create function in a time of total disfunction. Through the ceramics medium, I wanted to complete a dinnerware set that demonstrated unity, proportion, form, and scale. The challenge of completing ceramics work amid the pandemic continued to stretch my vision for my work. I was working with sets and multiples, as seen in with my teapots, mugs, and small dishes while trying to test color and texture. The whimsical squirrel juxtaposed emphasis on a traditional form. I embraced variety with the nested bowls, juicers, and trays, pieces connected by purpose. I altered thrown functional forms to break the thrown surface. The added reed teapot handle added rhythm and movement.
